Brag on Dustin...

I took my 3 hour glucose test on Wednesday and failed. I had an appointment with a dietician on Friday, and currently I have to test my blood sugar 4 times a day, and then report back on Wednesday. There is a really good chance when I send my readings on Wednesday I will be put on insulin, because 1/2 of my numbers are still too high even on the diet [and no I am not cheating :o)] The monitor came with enough test strips to get me through last night. The test strips are crazy expensive (like on sale for $1 a piece), so thankfully he wrote me a Rx for them and it was $25 for 200. We were not by the CVS all weekend, and finally stopped after church last night (almost 8 pm) to pick them up. They have no record of the Rx and it is late on a Sunday night and I have to have one to do a fasting test 1st thing in the morning. So I call the doctor and he resends it.

By now it is late, the kids are in bed and we both go to sleep completely without thinking. I wake up this morning to go to the bathroom and sitting on the cabinet is my test strips. My wonderful hubby got up at 6 am and drove to CVS and waited for them to fill it (they hadn't seen the Rx) and then came home to finish getting ready for work. He then made me breakfast and took Brandt to school, it was wonderful! Note Brandt has to be at school by 8 and the other boys not until 9. The younger boys are usually a sleep when I need to leave with Brandt, so I have to wake them and get them ready quickly then take Brandt then kill an hour before they can go. So anytime Dustin can take him for me makes my whole day go smoother. Problem is Brandt can't be dropped off until 7:30 and most days Dustin is at work by 7.

I hadn't even asked Dustin to go get the Rx, but he did anyway and I was extremely impressed and happy. lol I was planning on not eating breakfast, then taking Brandt and on the way to take the other boys stopping and getting it. However, they want the reading 1st thing in the AM, because movement can effect the number and not give a true reading. Dustin heard me say this and decided he would take care of it for me. One of the many reasons I love him!

Awesome Deals

I am too lazy to take pictures, but I did write it all out...mostly for myself. lol Yesterday I decided I better go to the store and get a few quick meal things and a few breakfast items and came back with the following:

KROGER:
(10) Banquet meals-not overly healthy but great for Dustin to take to work when he is super busy (like right now)
(6) Totinos Pizza Rolls
(4) Fuze bottled drinks
6 pack of regular Pediasure
(4) Dial handsoaps
(4) Ragu spaghetti sauce

My total: $17, I saved over $34

ALBERTSON'S:
(13) Sweet Harvest Oatmeal
(3) Quaker Breakfast bar
(8) Captain Crunch Cereal
(2) Aunt Jemima Pancake mix
(3) Quaker Oatmeal box of packets
(4) Quaker granola bars
(2) Life Cereal
4 pounds ($2.21) of incredibly overpriced bananas, but the kids had to take that to MDO today

My total: $14.50, I saved over $116.40!!! That is including the bananas and I didn't have a coupon for the granola bars.

WALMART:
7 pounds of Purina Cat Chow
Pedigree Jumbone 2 pack
Pedigree Package of Dentastix

My total: $3, I saved over $11.30

TARGET:
They were out of what I went to get, but I did manage to get 40 single sticks of string cheese for FREE!!! They would have been almost $10 and when we use 3 a day in lunches, they go quickly.

It is so hard to get a really good deal on groceries, so I was ecstatic...especially the Albertson's deals since we go through that stuff like crazy. I was able to give some to Bryson's home daycare that he goes to on MWF and help her out as well. I am bummed, because I am almost out of all the oatmeal type coupons I have, I think I have a few cereal ones left and that is all.

Total I spent $34.50 and saved over $171.70 and that was on items that we use and I would have bought anyway!!!

Baby Update

I am 28 weeks today! Wow the time is really starting to fly. Due to my history with my other kiddos, this baby should be here in 9 to 10 weeks. Yikes, that isn't all that long.

How your baby's growing:By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

A busy weekend

My parents and nephews came to help work on the house this weekend. My parents will be very busy the next few months flipping a house, so we had to get a ton to get done before they left as this might be the last weekend they can help before the baby comes. They got a lot of the walls ready for texture, and then they textured and painted the hall bath upstairs to see if we liked it. The boys saw paint and came running, they absolutely love to paint. lol

Brandt has painted a decent amount so he came upstairs and went straight to get his "work" clothes on.
We had to find Brayden some work clothes. Now he officially has work clothes as well. This was the 1st time he really painted, and did pretty good. Funny story: the paint we picked out is called Peanut butter. When we told Brayden we were going to paint the walls Peanut Butter, he started crying and saying he didn't want that just paint. lol
This is what Bryson was doing when the other boys were painting. He was so tired he crashed in the car on the way back from getting hair cuts. He didn't move when we carried him in and laid him down on our bed (he almost always wakes up when you move him). Parden the unmade bed, the sheets were in the washer.
We got (or I should say my wonderful hubby and daddy) got a lot done. We might actually have textured and painted walls in this house in the next little while. lol Next room will be the baby's room. Then we'll move to the main areas like the playroom, hallways, entryway, and kitchen.

So long beautiful weather...

The last 2 days have been beautiful. It was almost 80 degrees in February, we were able to get out shorts and wear them. It left me longing for Spring, however not the summer! lol It is currently 41 degrees, and that feels so cold after the last 2 days. Thankfully, by the end of the week the low 70s will be back. When we walked out the door this morning, Bryson started climbing up me and saying "its cold, its cold"! Poor baby was taken back by the wind. haha

Happy 30th Birthday Aunt Kristi!!!

My sisters and I at my baby shower when I was pregnant with Brayden. L to R: Kim, my mom, me, Kristi, and Kathryn

Today my older sister turns 30! Wow, 30! Growing up that was the magic age to me that people became "old". The closer I get to 30, the more I realize that 30 is NOT old at all, just merely a stepping stone. Almost all of my friends are at least 30, and they don't seem "old" to me. However, it is so hard for me to believe that my twirp of an older sister could somehow be 30 today! Happy 30th Birthday Kristi!

We finally picked our nursery set

After many hours searching we have finally picked a nursery set. I saw this online and didn't love it. However, I finally saw it in person and fell in love with it. It is called Engine #9 by Kimberly Grant made by Kidsline. The colors and textures are really neat in person, but do not do it justice in pictures. So now we need to get ourselves in gear and start working on the nursery. The walls still have a ton of drywall work to be done, and then we will need to paint it. Then add an A/C outlet in the room (it is part of the room that we split and still doesn't have A/C). Then we will need to get decorations and turn the toddler bed back into a crib and after all that we will finally have his room ready. Now that we have the bedding, I am very anxious to get started.
